Programs we run

We run two rowing programs, Learn to Row and Return to Row, through out the year to introduce people to the sport of rowing and our club.

Learn to Row

Designed as an introduction to the wonderful sport of rowing, delivered in a supportive, inclusive and friendly environment. It teaches you the basic skills & rowing technique and gives you an experience where at the end of the program you can decide if you want to further develop your interest in rowing. Our program is for everyone and it's also a great way to meet new people and friends.

The LTR program is a four week program consisting of an initial weekend of intensive off-water and on-water rowing followed by training sessions that continue to build your confidence, ability and technique. Each of the sessions is run by our accredited coaches and coxswains and builds gradually the skills you need to kick start your rowing journey.

After the program if you decide that rowing and the Argonauts is for you, we have a number of pathways to support you in your journey whether it's social, fun and fitness or into a competitive crew.

Your accredited LTR coaches and coxswains and members of the Argonauts are here for you. They donate their time to the program to make sure you have a great introduction to rowing and the club.

The Argonauts recognises that rowing and team sports have not always been supportive or inclusive of women, transpeople and gender diverse folk. We're wanting to change this by promoting and supporting those that have otherwise not been championed in the sport. Please get in touch to ask about our subsidised places for women, trans and gender diverse folks.

Return to Row

If you've rowed before—maybe at school or uni, overseas or at another club—and it could be a while since you've picked up an oar but you're keen to get back into the sport of rowing then this program is for you.

Our Return to Row program offers former rowers an opportunity to get back into a boat in a relaxed and friendly environment with accredited coaches dedicated to you.

The RTR program operates over three weeks on our Monday evening Social Rowing session, with our coaches and members there to support you in refreshing your rowing skills, sweep or scull, off-water and on-water plus introduce you to our club, fleet and crews.

After the program if you've rekindled your passion for rowing we have pathways to membership that will allow you to join and row socially, for fun and fitness or competitively.

  • No upcoming events, register your interest to be notified of the next Return to Row event
