Rutherglen is one of our bigger club events on the Argo calendar and always one of the best. Whether you're rowing or just fancy a social weekend away with the club, all are welcome and encouraged to come along. Partners are also very welcome to attend. It's always a wonderfully fun weekend and this year is going to be extra special as it's our first big club weekend away in a long time.
We've relocated accommodation to a the gorgeous Oakleigh Homestead just outside of Corowa, which is about a 15-20 minute drive from Lake Moodemere and we have the entire place to ourselves. Situated in the heart of farmland, the homestead is surrounded by tranquil landscaped gardens (with a pool!) that will be the perfect place for us to retreat to after the regatta.
There's a mixture of indoor beds, indoor floor space and camping in the grounds available, which allows us to accommodate for as many Argos and Fargos as we like, and also allows us to keep most activities outdoors.
Accommodation at the homestead includes the following arrangements:
Beds (mix of single and double beds in shared rooms) - 2 Nights (spaces limited)
Common Areas (BYO bedding and setup in one of the shared rooms or in the common lounge areas) - 1 or 2 Nights (spaces limited)
Camping (BYO popup palace and setup in the stunning grounds of the homestead) - 1 or 2 Nights
Banquet Dinner Only (no accommodation) - 1 Night (Saturday)
On the social front, Saturday night dinner will be a classic Argo BBQ cook up. Following a hard days racing this is a great way to unwind and afterwards have a dip in the pool. The cost of dinner is included in all 2 night accommodation registrations, for one night accomodation registrations please also select the dinner option.
Friday dinner is a DIY situation, often we head into town to one of the pubs, or all are welcome to use the facilities at the homestead to buddy up and prepare something together. Keeping in mind, rowing starts early on the Saturday morning and everyone is generally expected at the regatta site early to help unload boats and prepare for the day.
If you're not rowing and interested in helping out in other ways over the weekend, we're looking for people to help out by:
We encourage everyone to use the various testing methods available to ensure that they are covid-negative prior to the regatta. If you are using the rapid antigen test, please do it as close to the date of the event if possible.
To comply with the COVID-19 regulations the regatta will have its own Covid safe plan in place. Rowing Victoria and Argonauts will be following the Government and Health official advice carefully. If we are unable to proceed due to COVID-19, we will be able to make refunds available for accommodation.
