Healthy Eating & Fitness

We all understand the importance of eating well and maintaining fitness while rowing, but even when we're not training it's still vital for our overall wellbeing to eat well and remain active.

Cooking your own meals and limiting takeaway not only helps with eating fresh and nutritional meals but it's also a creative outlet and could help you relax and fill in some time.

There isn't just way to achieve wellness and it's a continued practice. Check in with yourself and be kind, some other activities during isolation could be :

  • Breathe - 1 minute a day of focused breathing. Try 10% happier or Calm
  • Concentrate - this can make you happy and calm the nerves, set a timer for 25 mins in a day to do just one thing only (i.e. read) then have a 5 min break
  • Yoga or Pilates - Online or search on YouTube
  • Dance & Music - Bop around the house to some tunes. Checkout Spotify or Soundcloud
  • Gratitude Journal - Three things your grateful for each day, note down before bed. Can be anything like the heat in your house, the friend who messaged that day, the bird that visited your window.
  • Learn - Watch a doco on ABC iView or do a short course on a topic your interested in (free ones on coursera.org) or visit your local library online for lots of free magazines and papers.

These are just some of the many things you can do, if you've got other tips or things that help you that you'd recommend please share them on Slack channel #argofitspo
